Your studies are important but we also want you to enjoy and try new challenges. So alongside your lessons, we have an outstanding range of clubs and co-curricular activities for you to discover.
Our campus is packed with first-class sporting facilities including a community swimming pool, a riverfront boathouse for rowing, gym, tennis courts and an all-weather pitch.
If you are a beginner wishing to try out a new sport, or already playing at a high level, we have plenty of choice.
For those who would like to play for the SJD College team we offer football, rugby, netball, mixed hockey, competitive rowing and swimming.
Thanks to our £28million investment in new buildings, we now have theatre and music facilities that are the envy of many professional groups.
If you like music, you’ll love our recording studios, rehearsal rooms and the chance to join bands and like-minded performers. For those who wish to tread the boards, check out our new purpose-built theatre complex with professional sound and lighting equipment and a dedicated dance studio.

We stage many high quality performances throughout the college year including a large scale production and more intimate nights of theatre, music and dance.
Recent productions include Miss Saigon, Cabaret, Rats Tales, Romeo and Juliet and a number of showcases featuring talented college performers.

Whatever you enjoy, you have the opportunity to realise your potential at Sir John Deane's.
If you like to get stuck in and delve into some of today’s topical dilemmas, this club is just up your street. There’s also a chance to take part in external public speaking competitions.
We have close links with Manchester Metropolitan University and you can become involved in specialist writing projects run by MMU.
Student Charities Committee
This is a dynamic group which organises fun charity events each term. The highlight of the year is ‘Uniform Day’ which sees staff and students in fancy dress.
Peer Education teams
This gives you the chance to train to work with Primary School children to help deliver information about bullying and harassment (the Sticks ‘n’ Stones team) or drugs and substance abuse (the STRIDE team).
