PIRATES, smurfs and even Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz were among the characters who turned up for lessons at Sir John Deane’s College recently.

Hundreds of characters could be seen around the College campus – as students and staff donned costumes for the annual ‘Uniform Day’.

And as well as having a lot of fun, they managed to raise hundreds of pounds for charity.

SJD tutor Sarah Trenbirth, who helped organise the event, said: “Yet again students and staff made a real effort to join in the fun and we are delighted that so much money was raised for charity.”
