Student Profile:
DANIEL, from Hartford - studying French, German, Maths, Business
"This programme of study has given me the opportunity to learn new skills for the future, and expand on those from high school. The ability to communicate with others through languages internationally is extremely useful, as one of the transferable skills picked up from Maths and Business Studies. Life at the College generally, which tough, is rewarding. The extra-curricular enrichment activities on offer are broad, and there really is something for everyone!"

About Us
SEPTEMBER 2011

Thank you for your interest in Sir John Deane’s College. This Prospectus has been prepared to help you make two key decisions:
Is Sir John Deane’s College the right place for you to study?
If so, what course will suit your needs, talents and ambitions?
Please remember that the Prospectus is only part of the process: staff will be pleased to help you make your choices, whether through visits to your High School, individual interviews, or special events arranged in College for prospective students.
The College has a long-standing reputation for educational excellence, most recently celebrated by the award of another “outstanding” verdict in our latest Ofsted inspection report.
We place a very strong emphasis on equality of opportunity for all our students and are committed to helping each individual to fulfil his or her academic potential. We also believe wholeheartedly in ‘the education of the whole person’. We therefore aim to provide students with the opportunity to live and work in an atmosphere that is both adult and caring, and to contribute to the organisation of the College community and to its many activities. We aim to provide a broad, challenging and successful experience, which prepares students well for their next vital step, be it Higher Education, training or employment, but is also thoroughly enjoyable in its own right.
Of course, success at Advanced Level requires self-motivated, independent study, and we will encourage very high standards. Hence, our main entry qualification is a genuine commitment to study, sustainable over the whole course, to ensure that your valuable time here is properly rewarded. If you can make that commitment, and if the College appeals to you, we look forward to receiving your application and to making you welcome next September.
