Ed selected for GB team
As a result of his performance at the GB junior trials over the weekend, Ed Grisedale
(Lower Sixth at Sir John Deane's College) has been selected to represent Great Britain at the Munich International Junior Regatta in May (7th, 8th).
Ross Howitt, Head of Sport at SJD, said: "Ed was complemented by GB Chief Coach Richard Boulton for his outstanding contribution to all the crew combinations that he rowed in and was recognised as a top performer."
The Munich event is an important stepping stone in preparation for The World Junior Championships in August which, this year, will be on home waterat the 2012 Olympic venueof Eton Dorney.
Swimming success
Joanna Waterman, a Lower Sixth student at Sir John Deane’s College, has recently competed in the Cheshire swimming championships. She won 3 golds, one silver and one bronze medal individually. Also in the team events she came away with 2 silvers and a bronze medal. In the 200m breast stroke she achieved a county record time of 2min 40.65secs.This puts her overall 10th in the Northwest Region.
Football success
Congratulations to both Sir John Deane’s College Football teams for successfully reaching the knock out stages of the North West Colleges League after a long, tough season. They will play their quarter final matches against opposition from Bury.
