Drugs in sport talk
A PROFESSOR who is one of the people advising the 2012 Olympics organisers on
drugs testing has given a talk to science students at Sir John Deane’s College.
Professor David Mottram, Professor of Pharmacy Practice, School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences at Liverpool John Moores University, visited the college, in Monarch Drive, Northwich, on Tuesday, November 15.
His talk was part of a lunchtime series attended by A Level science students at SJD and he gave an insight into how preparations are going for next year’s Olympic Games.
He also told the students which drugs are banned and why – explaining how drug tests are carried out and how athletes who need medication for health conditions like diabetes or asthma can be permitted to use medication.
