"I enjoy coming to College. The people here are friendly and all the teachers are willing to help you with anything you need. I like Electronics – I find it interesting. We get to do a lot of practical work and it helps understand how many of the Electronic items we use everyday work."
Students speak out in competition
SJD students have talked their way into the regional final of a public speaking competition.
A team of three from Sir John Deane’s College has made it through to the Wales and North West final of the Youth Speaks Competition, run by Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland (RIBI).
Chair Miranda Chance, from Hartford, main speaker Ashley Bannister, from Rudheath, and Will Bishop, from Congleton, who gave the vote of thanks, displayed their speaking and presentation skills at a heat held at Sir John Deane’s College on Tuesday, January 24.
They had 15 minutes to talk about their chosen subject ‘Is Romance Dead?’ and Miranda won an individual prize for best chair.
The team will now be speaking at the regional final on March 25, in Frodsham.
SJD teacher Paul Allanach said: “The students have done really well and are now looking forward to the regional final.
“The skills and confidence they have developed through this will be invaluable to them in their future careers.”
