A charity appeal has received an early donation ahead of its official la
unch.
The One in Eleven Appeal – based at Leighton Hospital – has been handed more than £3,000 by Sir John Deane’s College, in Northwich.
More than 80 singers from the college’s Adult Education choirs staged a concert to raise the money, which will go towards creating a new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the hospital.
Patsy Chuter, Head of Adult Education at SJD, said: “The evening was a fantastic success and we raised an incredible amount. We’re delighted the money is going towards giving the appeal a flying start.”
Around 250 people enjoyed the two-hour spectacular, which raised £1,786 through tickets sales.
A raffle raised £637, which was matched by Barclays Bank, taking the total to £3,061.
Laura Bailey, Fundraising Manager at Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity, said: “We can’t thank Sir John Deane’s College enough for raising such a fantastic amount.”
