Sam takes centre stage at Echo Arena
SINGER Sam Lyon is about to step into the spotlight at Liverpool’s Echo Arena after being chosen as a finalist in a prestigious talent competition.
Sam, aged 17, from Winsford, is among just 18 acts to be selected to appear in the finals of the Grand Talent Trail – which includes Gary Barlow’s mum as a judge.
The talented Sir John Deane’s College student, who also sings at the Red Lion pub in Winsford, beat hundreds of hopefuls at auditions held in November last year.
And now she is busy rehearsing for the performance of her life as she steps out in the finals of the competition at Liverpool’s Echo Arena on Saturday, February 11.
Sam will be singing her own song called ‘Stay’ and if successful could stand to win the £3,000 top prize.
Sam said: “I can’t quite believe I’m going to be on the stage at the Echo Arena – it hasn’t sunk in yet…it’s going to be a great experience.”
Alison Richards, Senior Tutor at SJD, said: “We wish Sam all the best for the final! She is a great music and performing arts student, and we are delighted she has made such excellent progress.”
