Role Specification for Governors

Main activities and responsibilities

*  To make every effort to attend and to contribute towards Corporation and
    Committee meetings together with training and development sessions for 
    Governors as appropriate.


*  To play an active role in the strategic planning process of the College by
    contributing towards discussions relating to:

  • The development of the College’s educational character and mission
  • The monitoring of achievement against objectives
  • The development of plans to address areas of improvement
  • Capital projects which the College is considering


*  To play an active role on one of the Corporation’s committees:-

  • Policy & Resources (curriculum, accommodation, college finances)
  • Audit & Search (quality assurance, governor training and recruitment)


*  To contribute to the regular monitoring of the financial health of the College


*  To participate in the life of the College community eg Open Evenings
    Concerts, Presentation Evenings.

The qualities listed below are intended to provide a guide to the range of qualities which the Corporation considers are appropriate for its members.  It is not intended to be exhaustive.
