"I love the independence you are given at College, where you take responsibility for your own learning. I have been given lots of support and encouraged to work hard to reach my potential. I love Chemistry at Sir John Deane’s. The lessons are always fun and interesting, teachers will always be there to guide you and offer help when it is needed."
Sweet singing to raise money for St Luke’s
MUSIC lovers are in for a treat when a summer concert gets underway at Sir John Deane’s College.
The event is being organised to raise money for St Luke’s Hospice and will feature main performances by the college’s Adult Education ‘Singing For Pleasure’ Choir interspersed with some instrumental items by students – including a jazz quartet.
Alison Richards, Head of Music at SJD who also coaches the evening choir, said: “All the music being performed is popular and well-known such as songs from musicals – Bloodbrothers; Chicago; Phantom of the Opera; and popular pieces such as Goodnight Sweetheart, Barbara Ann, Fly Me to the Moon, and Killing Me Softly.
“It’s a great way to spend a summer evening and we are hoping as many people as possible will come along and enjoy the atmosphere – and of course help raise money for St Luke’s Hospice.”
The concert is taking place on Monday, June 30, from 7.30pm in the main college hall, Monarch Drive, Northwich.
Tickets priced £5 (£4 concessions) are available from the college reception on 01606 46011.
