JOSH, from The Heath - studying Dance, Textiles, Photography, English Language
"Sir John Deane’s has helped me to become more confidant and independent. I have enjoyed the freedom of the college as this enables me to take my learning into my own hands. Studying dance has helped me to gain an understanding of different styles. Attending the extra-curricular Dance class has helped me to improve my technique."
TV Apprentice star films at SJD Fun Club
CHILDREN’S TV star Saira Khan caused a stir when she made a surprise appearance at the Sir John Deane’s College Summer Fun Club.
Saira visited the college’s Leisure Centre to film an episode of popular CBBC show Beat The Boss.
During her visit she was filmed with seven local children who were attending the summer holiday Fun Club – Alex Mazier, Olivia Oakes, Mairi Parvin, James Smyth, Kelsea Flynn, Rachel Hunt and Tom Dufty.
Beat the Boss is an ‘Apprentice-style’ business challenge for children. Each week Saira sets three children (The Bright Sparks) and three business executives (The Big Shots) the task of designing a new product.
The children at Sir John Deane’s were interviewed by The Big Shots who had been asked to design a toy for cats.
During the filming, the children got the chance to give their views on The Big Shots’ ideas – and they also got the chance to play with some beautiful kittens brought along by members of the Mid Cheshire Animal Welfare charity.
The episode is due to be shown on BBC television early in 2009.
The film crew were great with the children and they all enjoyed a lovely afternoon being filmed for the new TV series.
The children were particularly excited to meet Saira and she stayed afterwards to sign autographs and have her photo taken with the youngsters.
