Watch out for SJD Fun Club on TV

CHILDREN from Sir John Deane’s Fun Club will be stars on national TV when they appear on CBBC’s Beat the Boss show in March.

The youngsters were filmed with TV presenter Saira Khan in the summer last year and their episode will go out on the CBBC channel at 5.15pm on Thursday, March 5.

Seven local children who were attending the summer holiday Fun Club – Alex Mazier, Olivia Oakes, Mairi Parvin, James Smyth, Kelsea Flynn, Rachel Hunt and Tom Dufty were filmed.

Beat the Boss is an ‘Apprentice-style’ business challenge for children. Each week Saira sets three children (The Bright Sparks) and three business executives (The Big Shots) the task of designing a new product.

The children at Sir John Deane’s were interviewed by The Big Shots who had been asked to design a toy for cats.

During the filming, the children got the chance to give their views on The Big Shots’ ideas – and they also got the chance to play with some beautiful kittens brought along by members of the Mid Cheshire Animal Welfare charity.

Lesley McLaughlin, Leisure Centre Manager at Sir John Deane’s, said: “The filming was a great fun and we are all looking forward to seeing the final episode.”
