Liverpool University language courses
 University of Liverpool language courses.
All courses are run at Sir John Deane’s Collegein Northwich, but you must enrol through The University of Liverpool, contact details are below.
As part of Sir John Deane's continuing collaboration with the University of Liverpool we are offering the opportunity for you to enrol on the University's accredited language courses, all of which will be run in Sir John Deane’s new language department. The Chinese, French, German and Spanish Stage 1 courses are designed for complete beginners. Following on from the success of last years Stage 1 classes we will also be offering French, German,Italian and Spanish at Stage 2 and Italian at Stage 2+. All the courses will be starting in September 2011 on SJD's College campus, with locally-based University tutors. Courses will focus on speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. Successful completion of the course assessment will enable you to achieve university-level academic credit of 15 CATS points. The start dates of the 20-week courses are listed below.

Stage 1 - 20 week courses
This course is designed for complete beginners. It will focus on speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. Topics about life in today's modern European countries will be included. |

Stage 2 - 20 week courses
This course is designed for people with some knowledge of the language they wish to study, or those who have completed a previous stage 1 course. The course aims to extend the range of skills to CEF A2 level. It will focus on speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. Topics about life in today’s modern European countries will be included. |

Stage 2+ - 20 week course NEW This course is designed for people who have completed Italian stage 2. It offers the opportunity to gain fluency and confidence in using the basic skills and structures learned in stages 1 and 2 and increase the vocabulary, before moving on as more independent users of the language in stage 3. Students will develop the strategies to understand authentic texts taken from Italian popular culture and media and to cope with a range of situations in Italy. |
