SJD student takes on Manchester Marathon

Congratulations to Upper Sixth student Adam Hughes who successfully completed the ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon at the weekend with a time of 4 hours and 44 seconds.

Adam was among 12,000 of runners taking part in the gruelling 26 mile course, which started under the Trafford Arch and finished at the Athletes Village at Emirates Old Trafford, home of Lancashire Cricket Club.

The former Weaverham High School student, who has been offered a place to study Law at the University of Kent said: “I trained fairly hard for this, but I had not expected the time I got. I certainly had to dig deep, there was a lot of pain involved!”

Well done from everyone at Sir John Deane’s Sixth Form College.
