London Theatre Trip
32 Theatre Studies and Performing Arts students travelled to London for an inspirational weekend of musical theatre.
The weekend began with a bus tour of the capital and dinner in Covent Garden before a short walk to the Theatre Royal Drury Lane to take in a spectacular production of the classic ‘42nd Street’.
During the trip the students enjoyed a West End workshop where they worked with professional actors to stage the opening number of Disney’s ‘Aladdin’, before a visit to see the real thing at the Prince Edward Theatre.
The first day ended with a visit to the Noel Coward Theatre to see the breath-taking new production of ‘Girl from the North Country’, a new musical based on the music of Bob Dylan, with a star-studded cast including Harry Potter’s Shirley Henderson.
Before heading home, students visited the V&A to explore the Theatre galleries, where students got up close and personal with some iconic costumes, including one of Margot Fonteyn’s tutus and a pair of Prince’s shoes!
