Oxbridge offers roll in for Sir John Deane’s students

Sir John Deane’s Sixth Form College is once again celebrating academic success after 10 students received Oxbridge offers.

Nine students have received offers to study at Cambridge, while one has received an offer to study at Oxford in September 2018.

Amongst those with Cambridge offers, four students were selected to study highly competitive medical degrees.

Alison Hutchinson and Amelia Whitehead, both from Northwich, and Luke Oakes, from Winsford, were offered places to read Medicine, while Chloe Todd, from Appleton, has an offer for Veterinary Science.

There were also Cambridge offers for Megan Lyttelton, from Tarporley, Amelia Pendlebury, from Frodsham, Joseph Saunders, from Stockton Heath, Katherine Schofield, from Northwich and Thomas Marquand, from Frodsham, while Janae Byrne, from Chester, is set to study at Oxford.

Deputy Principal Andrew Boden said:  “I’d like to offer my warmest congratulations to all the students who have worked so hard and spent months preparing for interviews.

“They have demonstrated exceptional ability and have a promising future ahead of them.”

Students at Sir John Deane’s undergo an intensive process to prepare them for every stage of the application with support from a specialist Oxbridge team, led by Deputy Principal Andrew Boden and senior teacher Nikki Manley.

In recent years, students have been selected to study subjects including medicine, biological science, mathematics, architecture, languages, engineering, computer science, law, philosophy, politics and economics.

Andrew added: “Throughout the history of Sir John Deane’s students have always progressed to Oxford and Cambridge universities and this year is no exception.

“These ten students are up there amongst the best and brightest in the country and we are all extremely proud of their achievements.”
