Students shine at Year 12 Awards Evening
Sir John Deane’s Sixth Form College celebrated the achievements of Year 12 students during its annual Awards Evening on Thursday, June 22nd.
The event recognised the hard work and commitment of more than 80 students and included speeches from Head Boy Alexander Smith and Head Girl Emily-Rose Foden, while student Hannah Treacher treated the audience to a performance of Wandering Sax by Alan Bullard.
Prizes were given for academic excellence, excellence in sport, performing arts, personal achievement, student leadership and contribution to the college.
Kerry Kirkwood, Principal of Sir John Deane’s, said: “The award winners are a few amongst many who represent all that we hold dear.
"The Awards Evening is an opportunity to extend our heartfelt thanks to parents, families and friends, whose love and unwavering belief underpin the success of Sir John Deane's students."
The College also welcomed former Sir John Deane’s student, Rebecca Woods, a linguistics and modern Languages lecturer at the University of Huddersfield, who presented students with their prizes and brought the evening to a close with an inspirational speech, which focussed on friendship and success.
