This course offers you a specialist qualification with an ‘industry focus’.It includes developing skills in drama, movement and singing as well as performance skills and working with a live audience. All your work is assessed through practical assignments – including workshops and rehearsals as well as performing. There is some written coursework, but there are no written exams.

SJD Showreel 2015
SJD’s has a thriving performing arts department and there is a wealth of performing opportunities, with the chance to get involved both on stage and behind the scenes. With dance, music, media, photography and art students all studying at SJD – it’s a great place to meet new contacts and work together too!
We stage many high quality performances including a large scale production and more intimate nights of theatre, music and dance. Recent productions include Miss Saigon, Cabaret, Little Shop of Horrors, Romeo and Juliet and a number of showcases featuring talented college performers. It is also essential that you go to see as wide a range as possible of live theatre and, although we organise theatre trips, you are also encouraged to make visits of your own.
Where might it lead?
Your studies will enable you to develop skills needed to progress to a specialist performing arts college or university course – and ultimately a career in the performing arts industry. This is an insightful, challenging and creative subject that develops a wide variety of skills and your confidence – something that will be of use in other subjects and the world of work.
