Talented singers and musicians from Sir John Deane’s Sixth Form College brought glitz and glamour to the stage for the return of the College’s popular Evening of Jazz and Soul.

The sparkling event, held at the Macdonald Portal Hotel, Golf and Spa in Tarporley, on Thursday, saw the College’s 32-strong Jazz Collective, directed by Tim Murphy, perform a stunning range of classics from the likes of Glenn Miller, Frank Sinatra and Sam Cooke.

The audience were treated to old favourites such as Mack the Knife, Bring it on Home to Me and Get Happy as well as more contemporary pieces from Michael Bublé, Norah Jones and Adele.

Rebeccah Homer, Head of Preforming Arts at Sir John Deane’s said: “It was a privilege to be part of the audience and celebrate the result of our students’ talent, dedication and hard work.

“Special thanks must go to Tim Murphy, director of the Jazz Collective, for arranging the music, rehearsing the students and leading the event with such flair. He truly enabled our students to shine.”
