Musicians deliver Christmas joy at annual festive concert

Talented musicians and singers performed to packed-out theatre at the College’s annual festive Spirit of Christmas Concert last night.

The traditional concert is a highlight of the college calendar and this year included memorable performances from the Sir John Deane’s concert band, jazz collective, brass ensemble, flute trio, chamber choir as well as the Sir John Deane's Performing Arts Singers.

The audience were treated to some well-known seasonal favourites including ‘Sleigh Ride’, ‘The Fairytale of New York’ and ‘White Christmas’, before joining the singers and musicians for some rousing renditions of ‘O Little Town of Bethlehem’, ‘O Come All Ye Faithful’ and ‘Hark the Herald Angels Sing’

New additions to this year’s concert proved a hit with the audience, including a selection of songs from the recent hit musical, The Greatest Showman.

Alison Richards, Head of Performing Arts at Sir John Deane’s Sixth Form College, said: "As always I have been amazed and delighted by the musical talent and versatility of our students, who have provided us with yet another truly memorable evening of fantastic music and festive treats. What a wonderful way to end our College term and indeed get in the ‘Christmas Spirit’!"
