Students put pen to paper to lift community spirits
As well as focussing on their studies, students at Sir John Deane’s have come up with many creative ways to help their communities during the lockdown.
This week, Brigid Keighran, who studies Chemistry, Maths and Biology, featured in the Knutsford Guardian for her efforts to help lift spirits at a care home in Knutsford.
Brigid, who is a volunteer at Sharston House, has kept in touch with residents during the lockdown by setting up a pen pal scheme as well as frequently baking cakes for the staff, which she delivers along with the letters.
Brigid has been supported by friends and fellow Sir John Deane students Celia Ball, Natasha Chambers and Zoe Burrage have also been involved in writing letters. Well done to all of you!
