Candy Cane cash donated to bushfire appeal

Candy-Canes

Generous House Captains at Sir John Deane’s Sixth Form College have donated £100 to a charity caring for wildlife affected by the Australian Bushfires.

The team of Senior Students sold more than 400 candy canes over the Christmas Period and delivered them to fellow students as part of the College’s annual Candy Cane-O-Gram, raising £100.

Head Girl Mia Richardson said: “We want to thank everyone who participated in the Candy Cane-O-Gram and for all your generous donations.

“It was important that the money raised went to a worthy cause and I think we could all agree the on the devastating impact the bushfires are having on people and wildlife in Australia, which is why we chose the WWF Australia Appeal”

Deputy Head Girl Jessie Griffiths added: “As an aspiring vet, it has been awful to see how many animals have suffered over the past few months as a result of the fires – the WWF do some amazing work and we hope donations like ours can help them to continue their response.”
