Sir John Deane’s students celebrate sensational record results
Sir John Deane’s is celebrating its highest ever A level results, retaining its position as one of the UK’s leading sixth form colleges.
Students achieved a 99.7% pass rate with a record number enjoying high grade success.
Principal Kerry Kirkwood said: “The results reflect so much of what is unique about Sir John Deane’s, extraordinary students with ambition, first class teachers and dedicated support professionals working together to create this amazing momentum.
“I am grateful for all our families who have, with us, supported and loved their daughters and sons and have shared in our joy and delight today.”
The astounding success was shared across the College, with some 302 A*s and 84% of students achieving at least one high grade of A*, A or B.
There was also an impressive 100% pass rate in 24 A level subjects with outstanding results in the so-called facilitating subjects most valued by the top universities.
Many students have now secured their places at the UK’s best Russell Group Universities as well as record number for Oxford, Cambridge, medicine, veterinary and dentistry.
There were also many incredible individual successes with 152 students achieving straight A/A* grades while 29 students achieved straight A*s.
Harmann Bansal (The Grange School), Goldman Jiao (The County High School, Leftwich), Alexander James (The County High School, Leftwich) Samuel Flower (The County High School, Leftwich) Alistair Westmacott (Middlewich High School) and Michael Lee (Bridgewater High School) all achieved four A* grades.
Amongst those with three A*s or better were Mollie Huxley, (Middlewich High School) Kathryn Edmondson (Weaverham High School), Robert Barr (The County High School, Leftwich), Charlotte Case (Helsby County High School), Beatrice Lofthouse (Bridgewater High School), Nicolle Forest (St Nicholas R.C High School), George Chipperfield (Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School) and Charles West (Winsford Academy).
Miss Kirkwood added: “The sustained success of Sir John Deane’s students over a number of years reflects the singular and dynamic culture of the College which attracts the very best teachers and brings out the very best in students.”
