Sir John Deane’s has once again cemented its reputation as the country’s leading sixth form college, following another exceptional year of A Level and BTEC success.
82% of all A level grades awarded were A* – B, significantly exceeding the national average and surpassing last year’s record-breaking performance. The college also reached a new milestone, with 53% of all entries achieving A*- A grades and 20% securing the coveted A* grade.
BTEC students also delivered remarkable results, with 91% of entries awarded Distinction or Distinction*. Impressively every student achieved at least a Merit, underscoring the college’s commitment to academic excellence across all pathways.

They reflect the extraordinary dedication and resilience of our students, who have once again exceeded expectations. The unwavering commitment to excellence from both staff and students has propelled us to yet another year of record-breaking achievement. This is a proud moment for our entire college community.”
Among the many standout accomplishments 54 students achieved straight A* grades across three or more subjects, while 299 students earned a clean sweep of A*, A or equivalent grades showcasing the depth of academic excellence across the cohort.
Many students are now preparing for their next chapter, having secured places at their first-choice destinations. These include some of the UK’s most prestigious universities, and a number of higher-level and degree apprenticeships. Amongst those are 19 students who have secured highly competitive places at Oxford and Cambridge universities.
