Awards Evening celebrates Year 12 success
Sir John Deane’s Sixth Form College celebrated the achievements of Year 12 students during its annual Awards Evening on Thursday 21st June.
The event recognised the hard work and commitment of more than 90 students and included speeches from Head Boy Charles West and Head Girl Daisy King.
There was also a stunning musical performance from flautists George Chipperfield and Michele Stearn, who delighted the audience with their rendition of Presto by Haydn.
Prizes were given for academic excellence, excellence in sport, performing arts, personal achievement, student leadership and contribution to the college.
Principal Kerry Kirkwood said: "The Awards Evening is an opportunity to extend our heartfelt thanks to parents, families and friends, whose love and unwavering belief underpin the success of Sir John Deane's students.
“Congratulations to every single student receiving an award, all of whom have excelled amongst many and represent all that we hold dear.”
The College also welcomed former Sir John Deane’s student, Amy Parkinson, Principal Consultant at Berwick Partners in Manchester, who presented students with their prizes and brought the evening to a close with an inspirational speech, focussing on the road to success.
