Setting you up for success
We invest time in setting all our students up for academic success, which begins at enrolment. To help you get ready for this, we have outlined the steps you need to take once you have received your GCSE results as well as some important information about your enrolment appointment. Please read through this carefully.
GCSE Results Day
Step one of enrolment involves you securing your place at Sir John Deane’s.
On GCSE results day, Thursday 20th August, you must submit your GCSE results via the college’s online platform, Applicaa, no later than 1.00pm.
Your results must be submitted as an official document, with your name and your school’s name, or logo, clearly visible. This can be uploaded as:
- A clear, complete photograph of your results taken on your phone
- A scanned copy of your results
- A PDF file provided by your school
If we don’t receive your results by 1pm, your place at the college will be at risk.

Your Enrolment Appointment
Step two of enrolment will take place after GCSE results day. You will receive your enrolment appointment by the end of Saturday 22nd August. We enrol over a three-day period so that all families have the time and space to comfortably consider options. You will be given a face-to-face enrolment appointment on one of the following days:
Monday 24th August
Tuesday 25th August
Wednesday 26th August
You must be available to come into college on one of these dates to enrol in person, unless alternative arrangements have been made.
Parents are actively encouraged to attend enrolment, as we recognise they play a vital role in the success of students. During your enrolment appointment, you will meet with teachers to discuss your subject choices and finalise a programme of study that will set you up for academic success. The college will look at a range of factors in helping to decide your final programme, including average GCSE points score, individual GCSE performance and your overall grade profile.
Three very important things you need for enrolment are:
- £67 contribution fee which covers your two years at Sir John Deane’s (payable by cash or card)
- Proof of identity (preferably your passport, alternatively your birth certificate)
- If you received access arrangements at your previous school or have additional learning needs, please bring evidence that supports this to enrolment. You will have the opportunity to discuss your support needs. Please also let us know if you require any reasonable adjustments for the enrolment process.
If you have any questions, please email admissions@sjd.ac.uk
Reserve Pool
If you application is in our Reserve Pool, you have not yet been offered a place, and you would still like your application to be considered, please follow the steps below.
On GCSE Results Day, Thursday 20th August, you must upload your GCSE results via our online enrolment platform, Applicaa, no later than 1.00pm.
Your results must be submitted as an official document, with your name and your school’s name, or logo, clearly visible. This can be uploaded as:
- A clear, complete photograph of your results taken on your phone
- A scanned copy of your results
- A PDF file provided by your school
Please note that completing this step does not guarantee you a place at the college. However, it will ensure that your application can still be considered in accordance with the college’s Admissions Policy, provided that you have met the appropriate entry requirements and that additional places become available.
The Senior Admissions Panel will consider your application, and we will aim to contact you with an outcome by Friday 28th August.
